Turning of the ship, crabbing, steering while decelerating and stopping are more effective, accurate and faster compared to conventional shaftline-rudder propulsion. WebAzipod® differs from a traditional shaft line propulsion system in two ways: its electric motor is placed in a pod, outside the vessel, and the Azipod® unit can be turned 360 degrees. With increased manoeuvrability and efficiency, the ship's speed can be reduced while keeping the schedule.
